Twitter owner Elon Musk believes the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine may have something to do with the cardiac arrest experienced by Bronny James.
According to the Daily Mail, the South African-born tech mogul insinuated this in a July 25 tweet. He wrote: “We cannot ascribe everything to the vaccine. But by the same token, we cannot ascribe nothing. Myocarditis is a known side effect: The only question is whether it is rare or common.”
The James family also confirmed on July 25 that 18-year-old Bronny, the son of Los Angeles Lakers power forward LeBron, was hospitalized the day before.
Bronny collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest during a July 24 basketball workout at the University of Southern California (USC). He is now in stable condition and has been released from intensive care.
“Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital,” said a spokesperson for the family. “We ask for respect and privacy for the James family, and we will update the media when there is more information. LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”
The Mail pointed out that the cardiac arrest suffered by Bronny, who committed to playing for the USC Trojans, was the second such instance for the school’s men’s basketball team over the past year. Last summer, Vince Iwuchukwu also collapsed during practice. USC athletic trainers managed to revive him, and Iwuchukwu returned to the hard court six months later.
Twitter users have mixed reactions on Musk’s polarizing tweet.
One user sarcastically remarked: “Ladies and gentlemen, Elon Musk M.D. would like to speculate the cause of Bronny’s cardiac arrest.”
Another commenter appealed to emotion: “You are a dad; would you want folks speculating on stuff about any of your children? Pray that Bronny is OK and don’t let folks promote any cause at all. Tell folks to pray for Bronny and his family.”
Some public figures also slammed Musk’s tweet. Ed Krassenstein, one-half of the Krassenstein brothers, wrote: “Myocarditis is also a much more common symptom of COVID-19. It’s also something that has been happening to athletes since the beginning of sports.” (Related: Defending the jabs: Prepare for the most massive medical gaslighting in world history.)
Game designer Scott Graham, meanwhile, defended the COVID-19 injection, attributing myocarditis as a consequence of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
“Myocarditis is a ‘side-effect’ of the [SARS-CoV-2] virus itself, and even more likely from the live virus. Everyone was going to be exposed to the live virus anyway,” he wrote. “Better to have the vaccine and thus less chance of myocarditis.”
But several personalities also spoke out in support of Musk.
Benny Johnson of “The Benny Show” tweeted: “I’m here to tell you that it is not normal for thousands of healthy teenage athletes to be collapsing – some dying – from cardiac arrest.”
Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, shared an October 2022 article from the Seattle Times about a sharp rise in heart attack deaths among young American adults in the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic. He wrote as an accompanying caption: “This is my Bronny James tweet. Nothing to see, no questions to ask.”
One user also recounted his father’s experience after getting injected with the COVID-19 vaccine. The user’s father “went into cardiac arrest within hours of his second dose in 2021, developed pericarditis [heart lining inflammation and] suffered for months with sudden drops in blood pressure.” The father – who ultimately died in the middle of the night from another heart attack – never had a heart issue before that second dose.
